Kyoto and Nara. Again
Went to a Ninja Village t' other day. They threw shuriken (i finally learned the kanji for shuriken: 手裏剣) and knives and sai, which i learned apparently aren't really called sai. They also chopped bamboo and woven, rolled mats. And there was a ninja museum. Kunoichi means female ninja in japanese. Betcha didn't know that before. And that they used to dress up as candy salesmen. No joke. So that was pretty fun. 東大寺 again. That was good because i was with friends and we got to go up on the Buddha's pedestal and be favoured guests. Gotta love Hiraoka Sensei. My camera was out of batteries though, so i can't show you anything. Sadness. Kinkakuji was a tourist trap, just like i imagined. And the weaving thingie was kinda rushed and i felt like I was just bothering the weavers and they weren't interested in giving me any kind of cultural experience. Oh well. Afterwards, it was really interesting to see the master weaver creating a patterned piece of--was it silk? Anyway. Her loom was amazing. No Electricity, made of wood, and yet it was Programmed to make the pattern of waves appear as she used it. Amazing. And it had gold thread in it. Maybe. It was gold coloured anyway. So was kinkakuji, come to think of it. Catch ya'll folks later.
